The Amazon Echo (Fourth Gen) is available for purchase at $100. ![]() The speaker is also smaller and cheaper than the regular Echo, so it’s a lower-tier version in terms of its tech specs. On its fourth generation, the new Dot gets the spherical treatment, too. The Echo Dot is a mini version of the Echo. In addition to the regular Echo, you can buy several other types of Echo devices depending on your needs. The speaker measures 5.2 inches tall and 5.7 inches wide. A major redesign brings a new spherical shape, with three different color options: Charcoal, twilight blue, and glacier white. The original Echo is now in its fourth generation. Unlike the similar Echo Dot, the Mini is also designed with the possibility of mounting it to a nearby wall. Nest’s other smart speaker option is the Nest Mini, a smaller disk around four inches in diameter designed to be a desktop companion. And if you prefer an environmentally-conscious option, the enclosure of the Audio is made with 70% recycled plastics. The biggest difference here compared to the Echo is the larger, oblong shape, which stands out a bit more on a bookshelf or table. While there are no obvious buttons on the model, touch sensors on the side allow you to adjust the volume with a tap. It stands around 6.9 inches high and comes in a variety of colors, including charcoal, sage, sand, and sky. The fabric covering, rounded corners, and LED dot indicators are all classic features of these speakers. Google’s Nest Audio is the flagship smart speaker in the series and showcases the Nest design well. Reset Google Home devices: Unfortunately, if none of the above workarounds helped, then your last resort could be resetting your smart home device, if you haven’t already. The affected device list includes Google Nest, Nest Mini, Nest Hub, Google Home Mini, and quite possibly many more Assistant-enabled devices. Many have also stated that their smart home devices have stopped working completely. This goes for both my Google Home Mini (older) and my Nest Mini (newer). My Google Home devices started failing today (Wed Jul 29) as well, responding only with “Something went wrong” to every prompt. My google home mini speaker (speaker-A) responds with “Something went wrong” when anything is spoken to it. There was also the curious case of many Google Home devices failing verification, and of course, throwing the same error. In the past, we highlighted how the Lenovo Smart Clock ran into a similar issue and giving out the same error.
